Do not grow weary in doing good,
for at the proper time we will reap
a harvest if we do not give up.
Galations 6:9

High School | Jr. High School Planning & Graduation Policy

Academic guidance is provided for sixth grade students and their parents. Jr. High School is a time of preparation for the important High School years. We encourage using this time as an opportunity to reassess the academic skills, study habits, behaviors and organizational skills which will make the high school years run more smoothly. Identify weak areas and concentrate on strengthening where needed. Some students may be ready to move on into high school level subjects. High school credit may be granted provided that all Jr. High requirements have been fulfilled.

If you have a student who plans to receive an Eighth Grade Diploma from Harvest Christian Academy, we recommend that he/she work through the list of required classes (in any order),
and add the appropriate number of electives to reach 100 credits. Whenever this occurs, the student may graduate, whether or not two years have passed.

HCA requires 100 credits for 8th grade graduation. Of this, 80 credits are to be earned in required courses and the remaining 20 credits may be earned in electives.

The required course of study is as follows:

Bible………………..…….10 credits
English…………………....20 credits
Mathematics…………..…20 credits
Science……………….…..10 credits
Physical Education…….…10 credits
History……………………10 credits

The above course of study totals 80 credits leaving 20 credits to be earned in areas to be determined by the individual needs and goals of the student. Credits earned toward graduation are to not exceed 20 credits in any one area of study. Once credit requirement are met for Jr. High, student may begin to earn high school credit providing the curriculum used is high school level.
